Sacred Grounds Project

L4Per Cheryl Dyer attended a native plant and bee talk by the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Sacred Grounds Project at St. Marks United Methodist Church. Jackie Jones, the leader of the Sacred Grounds project at St. Mark’s in Laurel, led the talk.

The NWF partners with local houses of worship to create more sustainable communities by encouraging native plantings, thus supporting native insects and creating a healthier environment for all forms of life.

Francis Mullan, a pollinator conservationist, is the Sacred Grounds Project Associate who will be counting pollinators at the St. Mark's native plant garden to monitor biodiversity impact.

The black and gold bumble bee, Bombus auricomis, is from his field work collection.
