Monarch Metamorphosis Mural

The Laurel Arts Council, in collaboration with L4P, and funded by the Laurel Department of Parks and Recreation, created this 4-sided mural depicting the life-cycle of the monarch butterfly, from egg to larva (caterpillar) to pupa (chrysalis) to adult butterfly: complete metamorphosis. This insect is one of the most recognizable and beloved, which is why L4Per Cheryl Dyer came up with the idea to create the mural and the adjacent pollinator garden. She created the sketches and text and, along with the Laurel Arts Council, contracted artist Megan Alodie, whose vision best integrated the text and imagery. Megan mentored 4 Laurel high school students as she painted. Signage for the mural and garden was designed by Michael Dyer.
