Riverfront work continues

In September, together with restoration specialist Sandy Spencer from USFW-Patuxent Refuge, we applied selective herbicide to treat invasive species including tree of heaven, Japanese knotweed, and kudzu. In early October, we spread native red fescue grass seed to help establish ground cover to prevent erosion and the spread of invasives. In late November/early December, native trees will be planted by Howard EcoWorks and volunteers. We will be looking for volunteers this winter, while plants and vines are dormant, to continue vine removal. Check our Get Involved tab or Calendar for volunteer opportunities.
