L4P teamed up with the Laurel Arts Council to bring Poetry in the Parks to our city. Our first (hopefully of many) of these poem-engraved picnic tables is at Sweitzer Park across from our native garden. The poem was written by local poet Jennifer N. Shannon. At the unveiling ceremony, community members shared what they wrote at a poetry workshop that Jennifer led a few weeks prior. With provided materials and expert guidance, participants at the workshop created and uniquely displayed a poem to honor nature.
